Process Assessment

Something is not working as well as it should.

Process Assessment gives you a detailed, independent review of a specific business process: how it is designed, how it is actually being executed and whether it is delivering the outcomes it should. The result is a clear picture of where the inefficiencies are and what needs to change.

Suspect the process but can’t prove it yet?

Sound familiar?

Customers are telling you something is wrong?

Complaints are coming in, deliveries are late or product quality is inconsistent. You know there is a process problem somewhere but you cannot pinpoint exactly where it is breaking down.

An independent Process Assessment identifies precisely where the breakdown is occurring, what is causing it and what needs to change to stop it happening again.

The business has grown and the old process is struggling to keep up?

What worked when the business was smaller is starting to creak. Workarounds have accumulated, handoffs are unclear and the process that used to run itself now needs constant attention.

We map the process as it actually works today, identify where it is under strain and redesign it to handle the demands of a bigger, faster business.

A key person has left and their knowledge went with them?

The process lived in someone’s head and now they are gone. What remains is a patchwork of assumptions, informal workarounds and colleagues doing their best to fill the gap.

We reconstruct the process, document it properly and build in the controls needed to make sure it never depends on one person again.

You are considering automation but are not sure the process is ready?

Automating a broken or poorly designed process just makes the problems happen faster. Before investing in new technology or systems, it pays to understand exactly what you are automating and whether it is worth automating at all.

We assess the process in detail, identify what needs to be resolved before automation and give you a clear brief for the technology decision that follows.

Problem solved!

A detailed picture of how a specific process is working, where it is losing time, quality or resource, and a clear set of recommendations to put it right.

Mini FAQs

We start by understanding the process in context: what it is supposed to achieve, who is involved and where it sits within the wider business. We then observe, map and analyse how it actually works in practice, talking to the people who run it as well as those who depend on its outputs. The result is an evidence-based assessment rather than a desk exercise.
A detailed process map showing how the process currently works, a clear analysis of where it is underperforming and a prioritised set of recommendations for improvement. Where relevant we will also identify quick wins that can be implemented immediately alongside longer-term redesign work.
A management system audit checks whether your processes comply with a standard. A Process Assessment evaluates whether a specific process is efficient, effective and fit for purpose, regardless of any standard. The focus is on business performance rather than compliance.
Process inefficiency is rarely visible on a spreadsheet but it shows up everywhere else: in customer complaints, in staff frustration, in delivery delays and in the cost of fixing mistakes that should never have happened. A Process Assessment finds the source of those problems rather than treating the symptoms.
Most Process Assessments are completed within two to five days of assessment activity, plus time to produce the report. Timescales depend on the complexity of the process, the number of people involved and how much documentary evidence is available to support the review.
